The Israeli Council for Israeli-Palestinian Peace (ICIPP) is founded. Its members include Uri Avneri, Reserve Major-General Matti Peled, and the former secretary-general of the Labor Party, Lova Eliav. The group openly meets with a senior member of the PLO, Issam Sartawi. Following the meeting, they transmit messages from Sartawi to Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, offering Palestinian recognition of the state of Israel and the establishment of a Palestinian state in the Occupied Territories, both contrary to the official PLO stance at the time. Contacts with Rabin yield no result.
